Hotel Clubhouse Ayodhya Review – Comfortable Stay Near Ram Mandir

Introduction

I recently visited the religiously significant town of Ayodhya along with my family. While searching for hotels, I noticed a pattern in the location of hotels. The smaller ones, mostly in the form of homestays/guest houses, were closer to the Ram Mandir and the bigger ones were situated away from it. The closer you stay to the temple area, the more the chaos. Since this was a family trip, I wanted a calmer experience while also being accessible. Did Hotel Clubhouse deliver on those parameters? Read on to know.

Location and First Impressions

The hotel’s address is Plot No. 4106, Near Petrol Pump, Civil Lines, Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh 224001. It is approximately 7 km from Ayodhya Junction Railway Station and takes roughly 30 minutes by road.

Ayodhya is not a very big town with modern transport options. I found Uber Go (smaller vehicle) barely operational; the autos and e-rickshaws dominate the turf. As you move away from the temple area, the roads are less crowded and easier to travel. The approach road to this hotel is clean, the area feels safe, and there are a few eateries and general stores nearby.

I found the hotel entrance to be weird; you have to go down to the basement area a bit and take a lift to the 2nd floor, where the reception is located. But as soon as I reached the reception area, I felt transported to a different area altogether. The decor and lighting were beautiful and soothing, along with light bhajans in the background. The staff at the front desk were polite and cheerful and took care of the formalities in a smooth manner.

🗺️ Tip: Mention “Civil Lines Petrol Pump” to your driver — they would relate to it better.

Room Review – Comfort & Cleanliness

My room was of the “Executive” category, and I found the size moderately big to fit a family of three (one was a minor child). The room had air-conditioning (mounted on the ceiling with a thermostat), a flat-screen TV, a kettle, and clean bedding. The bathroom was spotless, with hot water available all day.

Executive Room Experience

The bed was soft and cosy, ideal after long temple visits and walks through the old city. A special mention to the lighting and ambience, it was just perfect. The corridors outside the room were also beautifully lit, which elevates the overall experience. There is an illuminated closet which can be used to store clothes.

The bathroom was also very well equipped, with a hair dryer, shaving and dental kits and a separate enclosure for taking a shower.

If you’re expecting high-end luxury, note that this is a mid-range property — functional, tidy, and well-maintained, not lavish.

Dining Experience

There is an in-house restaurant by the name of “The Sizzle Restaurant”. During my stay, I found the quality and taste to be slightly below expectations. The cost is on the higher side, but the taste does not match up to it. It is not bad by any stretch, but I did not feel satisfied after a meal. Some of the dishes had too much oil, but some of them were decent. The breakfast buffet was better as it had a lot of options to choose from, ranging from North Indian to South Indian, as well as some healthier options like corn flakes and fruits. The staff seems to be genuinely interested in making the experience good, as they approached me for feedback multiple times.

I would recommend that you try out food from other places as well. There are a lot of restaurants near the Ram Temple.

Service & Facilities

Staff: The hotel staff was polite and helpful with all the multiple requests, ranging from water refills and other requests.

Parking: The hotel has a parking facility in the basement. Though I did not drive down in my personal vehicle, if you are doing so, then it is worth noting.

Cleanliness: Do not be put off by the entrance, as the interiors are amazing. The rooms and the property are maintained quite well, and the housekeeping staff does a good job.

Ambience: The whole place gives a very positive vibe, with mild bhajans playing in the background and photo frames of Shri Ram all over the place.

Concierge: If you need a taxi for the railway station or airport pickup/drops or for local sightseeing, you can contact the reception, and they will arrange it.

Value: This is a mid-budget hotel with tariffs starting from INR 4,000 onwards (for an executive room). The term value is a subjective one and differs from person to person. For me, excellent location and a comfortable stay for the family were important, and this hotel did provide that, so it was a good value stay for me.

Who is this hotel ideal for?

Clubhouse Hotel’s Civil Lines location is a plus point. It’s slightly away from the crowded temple lanes but still close enough for quick access to the Ram Mandir and Saryu Ghat. For reference, Ram Mandir is close to 8 km and Saryu Ghat is around 12 km from the hotel, a 30-minute ride away.

This hotel is ideal for families or travellers who prefer to stay away from crowded places while also wanting good comfort and decent accessibility. You’ll find plenty of auto-rickshaws for local travel — and the area feels more open compared to central Ayodhya.

Pros and Cons

  • Friendly and responsive staff
  • Parking available – A big plus in a crowded city

Cons

  • The temple area is slightly far away and would require time and money

Final Verdict

I would rate my stay at Hotel Clubhouse Ayodhya as a solid 8/10. If you’re visiting Ayodhya and want a comfortable, mid-range hotel with good service and a peaceful vibe, Hotel Clubhouse is a great pick. It’s modern, clean, and located close to all key attractions.

Would I stay again? Yes for sure. It is perfect for a short spiritual trip, especially if you prefer staying slightly away from the main temple crowd.
